Quench your beauty thirst with nature's most refreshing resource.
DRENCHED IN RELAXATION
Do you watsu? If you haven't yet, you'll want to. "Watsu is a manual aquatic therapy that uses the flow of water, buoyancy and warm water temperature to provide gentle mobilisation of joints and soft tissue," says Ruth van Dongen registered watsu, remedial massage and reflexology practitioner.
How it works
You're immersed in a pool of body-temperature water and guided and massaged through different positions and stretches by a certified therapist. Your state of relaxation will be deep, but the water isn't - your face always stays above the surface.
Before you test the waters, know this:
- A bathing suit is required.
- It's a very intimate treatment. You will be in continuous close contact with the practitioner throughout the session.
- Besides unleashing physical tension, watsu often brings about an emotional release. "The technique is profoundly relaxing and the body can be moved beyond its limitations to bring new life into long neglected connective tissue with new possibilities of freedom", says Ruth. Some have likened the experience it to a return to the womb.
